Cathy’s first vintage in the Yarra Valley was in 2003 at the former Yarra Ridge winery. Since then Cathy has been responsible for managing their family property and vineyard at Sutherland Estate.
Cathy and Angus met studying Wine Science at Charles Sturt University. Since 2008 they have been responsible for crafting the reds for Sutherland Estate, and have directed the white wine making. After a narrow escape from a life in politics, Stephen Powell has divided most of his professional between talking about wine, polishing glasses and taking on mostly improbable cooking projects.
Living and working in the Yarra Valley since 2003, his love and empathy for the place, the produce and remnant natural environment of this region make Stephen a proudly parochial advocate for the wines of the Yarra Valley.
Stephen is currently the Cellar Door Manager for Helen & Joey Estate.
